VVSS 2008 (Verification and Validation of Software Systems) is a symposium annex tool exhibition that was launched by LaQuSo (Laboratory for Quality Software) to exchange experiences about methods and techniques among decision makers and experts in the domains of software testing, quality assurance and formal methods. The theme of VVSS 2008 was 'Software Quality in Outsourcing'.
The VVSS 2008 Program contained twenty international speakers, a poster session and a tool & method exhibition.
Outsourcing of software development has taken a large growth in the last few years. In any outsourced development process there are distinct milestones where a hand-off between customer, developer and/or intermediate partners takes place.
Most commonly these milestones are the definition of software requirements, the architecture and the design of the software system, and the completion of the software product. The customer must make sure that the requirements are complete, correct and understandable. The architect must be sure that the design is correct and fully represents the requirements. The developer must ensure that the software product fulfils the requirements. In the end the customer has to test the software product to judge the user satisfaction.
An outsourcing process that results in a quality software product needs quality assessments of the intermediate products at each of the milestones. VVSS 2008 focused on the methods, tools and techniques for verification and validation of (intermediate) software products and on the surrounding management processes for outsourcing.
The symposium took place on April 24, 2008 in the Auditorium of Eindhoven University of Technology, Eindhoven, the Netherlands.
We would like to thank the speakers, the tool exhibitors, the poster presenters, the track chairs and the participants for making VVSS 2008 a success.See you next year!
