A recently finished master thesis project was about statistical release testing: An important question in a release test is: How many additional tests have to be performed in order to conclude that the software is error-free? With a statistical model we can calculate this number upfront [published in "Statistical Certification of Software Systems", presented at Conquest 2004]. It is more interesting to 'learn' from the test data produced during testing. The research focus lies on the calculation of the number of additional tests every time an error is found. Extensive simulation provided insight in the performance of this approach.
